                   FIESTA  FILIPINO

      The Filipino Association of Nova Scotia

      (FANS),was proud to present  The Fiesta

      Filipino held at the beautiful Bella Rose

      Art Center -of Halifax West High School
      Halifax, Nova Scotia,CANADA.

      The Fiesta Filipino which was open to the

      general public was VERY SUCCESSFUL,
      and so IT WAS A BIG HIT !!!   Congratula-
      tion  to the administration  of Mrs. Leni
      Van der Jagt, R.N.   This event  show-        

      our Filipino culture and tradition with

      dance,music,a fashion show, songs and

      food.

     Prior to and immediately after the
     presentations of  PROGRAMS I  and
     II, FOOD KIOSKS with delicious, and
     exotic foods from different regions of
     the Philippines were available for sale.
     The sale was brisk!

          HALLOWEEN BOO PARTY

     The SOCIETY celebrated the
     Halloween Boo Party on October
     27th,2012 at the St. John the
     Baptist Parish Hall.

     A variety of Specialty Foods were
     served. Attendance was great.
     A special thanks for those who
     came dressed up for the party.

     Among the custumes were:

         . Big & little witches,
         . Dark vader & vampire,
         . Little princess & ladybug,
         . Captain America & pirate,
         . Little nerd & bumblebee,
         . Skunk & cat,
         . Pumpkin & little angel,
         . Cheerleader & little  pig.

     A trip to Jerusalem ( Musical
     chairs) was played by the
     children. Music : improvised
     by members.

     2012. OCTOBER.20th
     Saturday.

          PACIFICO FUNDRAISER NIGHT
          " Let Loose on Saturday
           Night at the Pacifico "

     The event was specifically
     planned as a benefit to  The
     PILIPINO in HALIFAX BASKET-
     BALL LEAGUE ( PHBL ). Tickets
     were purchased in advance
     from Nimfa Pensona, and
     Nimfa Tolentino.

     President Leni Remolano van
     der Jagt reported: " I am ecstatic
     to report to you that we had
     a very successful fundraising
     event at the Pacifico on Oct. 20,
     2012. It was well attended
     indeed by all the basketball
     players and their supporters,
     FANS members, and the visit-
     ing Filipino crew  members
     of the  I/T Interceptor,and
     lots of beautiful and happy
     Pinoy faces that night !

     It was a huge PINOY INVA-
     SION at the Pacifico that
     night!  Very impressive
     indeed !!!  Thank you to all
     those who came."

       2012.OCTOBER.29th
       Monday.

           PHBL SEMI-FINAL GAME

     The Pinoy in Halifax Basket-
     ball Leaue had its Semi-Final
     Game on October 29th at the
     St. Andrews Community Center's
     Basketball Court.

     It was a  great match between the
     Makabagong  Mandirigma  vs the
     Mandirigma ng Lacewood.

     MAKABAGONG MANDIRIGMA

     WON !!! ( " The YOUNG GUNZ " ).

     Yes, mga Kababayan:

        The 2012 PHBL CHAMPIONSHIP

                        is on !!!

     This Sunday, November 4th,2012

     from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the

     St. Andrews Community Center's

     Basketball Court:

     will vie for the most coveted

     trophy !!!

    Let's all come and attend this

    MOMENTOUS and HISTORICAL

    EVENT, and watch the exciting

    saga unfold !!!

    By attending, we are indeed

    honoring and thanking all those

    who brought the GREAT PINOY

    SPORTMANSHIP IN NOVA SCOTIA

    FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME !!!

    This includes the PHBL PLAYERS

    principally, the ORGANIZERS,

    commisioners, coaches,referies,

    and their families( wife, kids,

    parents,and girl friends ).  In the

    final analysis, we are also thank-

    ing and honoring the FANS AS

    A PARTNER !!!

     I only have one regret: As the

     FANS FOUNDER and as an

     AFFICIONADO...spiritually,

     I am so charged-up & eager to

     attend, and yet physically unable.

     I am sick! Enjoy the game for me.

     And, MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN !!!

     After the game, there will be a 

     Closing Program, presentation of

     THE TROPHY, and MEDALS.     A
     Potluck reception will follow.

    ANNUAL  GENERAL  MEETING

    The FANS AGM will be held at

    the St. Andrews Community

    center's Craft Room.

    This meeting will serve as an

    open forum for discussion &

    actions to be taken on items

    of importance in the operation

    of the affaires of FANS., as to

    where the SOCIETY stands

    re:  Social events, financial,etc.

    We want to hear from our

    FANS members, their sugges-

    tions & recommendations for

    better ways to improve the 

    operations of the SOCIETY.

    Ambassador Leslie Gatan, Philippine
    Ambassador to Canada visited our
    SOCIETY. Updates were given in
   many topics:

   . Ambassador Leslie Gatan accomp-
     nied Prime Minister Steven Harper
     during his Philippine Visit.

   . The current progress in the Philip-
     pines inspite of typhoons & earth-
     quakes.
   . The Philippines is now exporting
     rice.
   . The Philippines gave a One-Billion
     Dollar Loan to the IMF recently.
  . Advantages of Dual-Citizenship
    such as  purchasing real estate
    properties , voting in National
    Elections, etc.

      Dr. & Mrs. Jacobo Rosales Asuncion Jr.

      & Erlinda Obellos Asuncion ,& Family

      have donated to the FANS, the sum

      of  ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED

      TWENTY DOLLARS AND NO CENT

      ( Canadian ) in one Cheque

      ( $ 1,720.00 ) as a "Seed Money" to the
      FCCC LAND and BUILDING PROJECT.

      The Cheque was handed in person to

      Miss Tessie Beren , FANS TREASURER &

      witnessed by Mr. Armando A.B. Regala,

      FANS PRESIDENT & Chair BOD,and the

      Board of Directors (1992-1996 ).

      Unfortunately, the PROJECT became

      DEFUNCT, and so the DONORS will

      re-direct the above  CASH DONATION  to

      a FANS FUTURE PROJECT of their

      choice.

        CONVENTION CENTER, 8th Floor.

        This floor will be exclusively for

        the FANS for that night.

            TICKETS:

              FANS Members: $ 70.00

              FANS  Guests :    $ 85.00 

       There will be a designated room,

       right next door from our party for

       children. Parents are responsible

       for their children at this event.
