               1974:
               First Federal Grant:

               The Society received its First Federal
               Grant from  the Minister of State
               Responsible for Multiculturalism.
               Amount: $5,000.00.  This grant  
               supported the project: "Filipino Music
               Revival.  Project Director:
               Dr. Jacobo R. Asuncion,Jr.



        *1974
  
              The FANS BAND was organized,and
              subsidized by the grant money.
                Band Leader: Mr. Ben Espanol
                Band Manager: Dr. Jacobo R.
                                            Asuncion,Jr.
              The FANS BAND revived many
              Filipino Music,and performed in
              many festivals in Halifax,Dartmouth,
              Wolfville,and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

    * 1975  Federal Grant was recieved from the
                 Minister of State for Multiculturalism.

                 The Grant money was partly used for
                 travel expense (*) to Edmonton,and
                 for the whole day celebration of the
                 Multicultural Day.



   *1975  Provincial Grant was recieved from
                the Department of Recreation.

           (*)The Grant Money from the Federal
                 and Provincial Grants were used
                 collectively for the TRAVEL EXPEN-
                 SES of the FANS DANCE TROUPE
                 to the  COMMONWEALTH GAMES
                 in Edmonton, Alberta.  The FANS
                 represented the Province of Nova
                 Scotia.

               Dancers on her return.

               tations in Yarmouth and Shelbourne,
               N.S.  Dances such as " Pandanggo
               sa Ilao" and "Tinikling" were present-
               ed .  There was also a colorful Fashion

               May 5 & 6..

  " A LITTLE PIECE OF THE PHILIPPINES"

 April 12,2012.    A  VIDIO  PRESENTATION.

A Little Piece of the Philippines sprung up in Haifax on Thursday, 12 April,2012 as hundreds of Filipino newcomers gathered at the  WORLD TRADE & CONVENTION CENTER.

It was converted into a MINI-CONSULATE---
COMPLETE with a visit by the PHILIPPINE
AMBASSASOR TO CANADA--- all to meet the needs of a growing Filipino Community.    The
CBC's Elizabeth Chiu reports.

As a Consular Clinic Passports were processed.
Dr. Elizabeth Eustaquio-Domondon, Former
FANS President spoke.

The Philippine Ambassador to Canada, His
Excellency, Honourable Leslie Gatan spoke
about the functions of the Consulate briefly
as well as Trade & Tourism.

The Filipino Association of Nova Scotia hopes
that there will be more CONSULAR OUTREACH 
PROGRAMMES like this kind in the future.
